Our flagship product, the Firebird V-III™ is a vortex combustion system that is unlike any current technology on the market.  With its origins as a hazardous waste material incinerator, the shredded waste material is burned at an extremely high temperature, while traveling in a high speed vortex, burning fully in suspension. The Firebird V-III™ maintains the original patented technology that made it so unique, with modifications only to the sensoring, monitoring, and other electronic safety systems.  Different models are available for various applications, with options for stationary use, truck mounted, or rail mounted for easier transportation.

Unlike current technologies, this system is well suited for use in non-waste applications, such as  woody biofuel for energy programs.  Primarily, this system can offer several key features that make it ideal to replace open burning:

  • 24 hour operation, regardless of weather or other environmental situations

  • Uses existing chipper equipment (1", 2", or 3" chip size)

  • Immediate combustion with no need to "season" cut timber

  • Easily handles forest residues with high levels of "off-spec" pieces

  • Vortex IIItechnology produces no fly ash, sparks, and other particulate matter that could cause fires with nearby forests

  • This technology achieves "complete and perfect" combustion, with no harmful emissions, not even smoke

  • No ash residue due to the complete combustion of all wood material

To complete the energy recovery (or what we call VorCinErgy™) process, the Vortex III™ is connected to a steam boiler and steam turbine generator to produce the most efficient form of energy for system size.  The V-III™ is only 8' wide by 11' long.

The process of waste to energy (WtE) using this type of combustion source in combination with a steam generator has been around for decades. In fact, nearly 80% of all electricity in the world is generated with the use of a steam turbine. Other combustion sources include jet engines, coal-fired furnaces, and natural gas ovens.
